UPF-BSM Teaching Staff Awards

Conditions for the UPF Barcelona School of Management Awards recognising excellence in teaching and knowledge transfer

These Awards will be given each year by the UPF Barcelona School of Management, a centre attached to Pompeu Fabra University. The first awards are for the academic year 2019-2020.

Purpose

The awards given by UPF Barcelona School of Management are intended to promote excellence in teaching and knowledge transfer among UPF Barcelona School of Management's teaching body.

Who are the awards for?

These awards are for UPF Barcelona School of Management's internal and external teaching staff.

Categories

  1. Award for teaching innovation
    Recognition of educational projects that are innovative and contribute to improving teaching quality.
  2. Award for knowledge transfer
    Recognition of an individual teaching activity based on knowledge transfer*.

* Knowledge transfer means the set of activities aimed at making studies, content, experiences, methodologies and skills available in order to enable and make accessible the use, application and engagement of academic production inside or outside the institution.

Award

The award winners will receive a Diploma in recognition of their work.

Jury

For the academic year 2019-2020, the jury will be made up of the following people:

  • The dean of UPF Barcelona School of Management.
  • The vice-deans of UPF Barcelona School of Management.
  • The director of the Centre for Innovation in Learning and Knowledge (CLIK).
  • UPF Barcelona School of Management Head of Teaching Innovation.
  • A representative of the students and ex-alumni.

The Secretary of the Board of Studies will act as the Jury's secretary.

The Jury may request the information or advice it deems appropriate from UPF Barcelona School of Management's academic and administrative units and may decide not to issue awards for all or some of the categories.

  • Submission of entries:

Individual or group entries may be submitted for all categories of the awards.

Entries may be submitted until 30 November 2020.

The required information must be sent in a single file in PDF format to the address PremisProfessorat@bsm.upf.edu.

The award for the teaching innovation category is intended to recognise educational projects that are innovative and contribute to improving teaching quality. The following aspects, among others, will be assessed for this award:

  • the initiative or action's fit in terms of the purpose of the award and the category;
  • the experiences in innovation in quality teaching;
  • the activity being performed or commenced within the last three academic years;
  • alignment with UPF UPF Barcelona School of Management's objectives in terms of innovation and improvement in teaching quality; and
  • the overall impact and its applicability to teaching at UPF UPF Barcelona School of Management as a whole.

Information to be provided in a single document:

  • Details of the candidate (or candidates): full name and e-mail address.
  • Summary of the initiative or action, including the description, objectives, results and scope.
  • Documentation of and/or evidence for the activities performed in the area of teaching innovation and the impact it has had on the institution.

The award for the knowledge transfer category is aimed at recognising the set of activities performed by a lecturer to make studies, content, experiences, methodologies and skills available in order to enable and make accessible the use, application and engagement of knowledge inside or outside the institution. The following aspects, among others, will be assessed:

  • the entry's fit in terms of the purpose of the award and the category;
  • the degree to which the merits demonstrated have contributed to improving knowledge transfer from and to the institution;
  • activities performed in the knowledge transfer area, such as events, chairs, congresses, case studies, etc.

Information to be provided in a single document:

  • CV including scientific and/or academic production, professional career, noteworthy activities and other aspects.
  • Documentation of and/or evidence for the activities performed in the area of knowledge transfer and the contribution they have made to the institution.
  • Verdict

The awards will be presented in a ceremony that will take place at UPF Barcelona School of Management in the first term of the academic year 20-21 and will be publicised through the corporate communication channels (social networks, UPF Barcelona School of Management website, Mes News internal newsletter and others).

A single winning entry will be proposed for each award.
