Almirall Chair for the Management of Innovations in Pharmaceutical Policies in the National Health System
The Almirall Chair for the Management of Innovations in Pharmaceutical Policies in the National Health System of the UPF Barcelona School of Management aims to generate systematized knowledge about the policy and management of pharmaceutical innovations in the National Health Service (SNS), in addition to transmitting reflections on the subject to the different interest groups.
Among the planned activities, the annual event "Encuentro de Expertos en Gestión Sanitaria y EconomÃa de la Salud " is organized, where discussions revolve around the management of innovations in pharmaceutical policy. This event, held every year since 2018, is a reference point for healthcare professionals, managers, and decision-makers involved in the evaluation and implementation of healthcare technologies. Within the framework of the chair, studies are also conducted on the economic impact of innovative interventions in the Spanish pharmaceutical sector to contribute to the knowledge transfer of the topics addressed.
Objectives
- Discuss the state of innovation management in the National Health System (NHS).
- Generate knowledge about post-COVID-19 advancement avenues, and promote evidence-based management in healthcare and health economics.
- Sharing the contribution of economic evaluation tools in decision-making about innovations in the SNS (National Health System).

The 7th edition of the UPF Barcelona School of Management’s Encuentro de Gestión Sanitaria y FarmacoeconomÃa has established itself as a key space for reflecting on the challenges of the healthcare system. The 6th edition of the Expert Meeting on Healthcare Management and Health Economics, organized by UPF-BSM within the framework of the chair with Almirall, consisted of a debate and two panels focused on the situation of drug financing policies, new technologies in healthcare, and efficiency in health services. UPF-BSM has organized the "I Encuentro de Expertos en Gestión Sanitaria y EconomÃa de la Salud," a conference led by Professor Jaume Puig-Junoy and supported by the pharmaceutical company Almirall. These conferences have been a forum for discussing new trends and international experiences in biopharmaceutical policy, with the participation of healthcare managers from leading Spanish hospitals and recognized experts in health economics.
