Sant Jordi 2026

Sant Jordi is much more than a celebration: it is a shared moment around culture, ideas, and the stories that connect us. At UPF-BSM, we want to experience it through the plurality of perspectives that defines our community.

This year, we invite you to take part in a series of activities to read, write, discover, and share: from an open class with authors and alumni to a collective map of literary recommendations and a cultural experience around Mercè Rodoreda.

Because Sant Jordi is also this: many voices, many readings, one shared passion.

2. What’s your literary gem?

Sant Jordi is approaching, the day when the streets of Barcelona are transformed into an open-air bookstore. At UPF-BSM we want to celebrate it in a very special way: by creating a shared reading map for our entire community. Do you have a book that has changed your perspective? Or a  story that everyone should read? We want your recommendations!

  • Title of the book: in the original language or the one you prefer
  • Author
  • Your "why": a line that makes us want to start today.
  • Your identity: number, last name and program.

Send us your proposal before April 15 through this link!

2. Mastering the art of writing: A Sant Jordi 2026 Open Class hosted by the Master’s in Literary Creation.

What are the essentials of a compelling short story or poem? What wisdom do the masters of the craft share?

We invite you to spend two hours with the co-director and a distinguished graduate of UPF-BSM’s prestigious Master’s in Creative Writing. Together, we will explore the art of storytelling and the secrets of the trade—an essential experience for every dedicated reader and writer.

  • Marta Carnicero: Writer and UPF-BSM alumna.
  • Jorge Carrión: Co-director of the Master's program.
  • Date: Tuesday, April 21st at 7:00 PM.
  • Location: KOINÉ Room, UPF-BSM.
  • Access: Open to everyone. Prior registration is recommended by clicking here.

3. Rodoreda Exposition

The exhibition Rodoreda, a Forest  pays tribute to Mercè Rodoreda, a pivotal figure in 20th-century Catalan literature, through a journey that uses the botanical world as its central theme. The show connects the author's biography—from her roots in Barcelona to exile and the post-war era—with her complex literary universe, characterized by the contrast between the everyday and the fantastic. By fostering a dialogue between original documents from her foundation and works by contemporary artists created specifically for this occasion, the exhibition highlights the enduring relevance and depth of one of the most universal voices in our culture.
