Interview with Marc Ferre, professor of the Human Capital course on the UPF-BSM Executive MBA

UPF Barcelona School of Management (UPF-BSM) has redesigned its Executive MBA with a program tailored to the new demands and latest trends of the market. The Academic Director of the Executive MBA, Katharine D’Amico, is supported by a faculty team that combines academic excellence, PhDs, and extensive professional experience across multiple sectors.

In this interview series called UPF-BSM Faculty Feature, we speak with the leading professors of the new EMBA. In this episode, we feature Marc Ferre, who teaches the Human Capital course.

“Any business success or failure is tied to the team and the leader. If we want to have good products and services, we must first have a strong human team,” the professor explains about his subject. Ferré points out that many people think human capital is a human resources issue, but in reality, “it affects all departments within a company.”

In his classes, students will learn how to build strong teams, how to unlock their full potential, and how to scale leadership across an entire organization to create a multiplying effect on performance.

When asked about the most significant change currently affecting his sector, Ferre explains: “Right now, the how is changing, but the what remains the same. We continue to do what we’ve always done in our day-to-day work, but now using technology. The same applies in the workplace: teams still want the same things, but we are all working in a digital environment that requires different skills to achieve our goals.” For the UPF-BSM EMBA professor, it is essential to focus both on what is changing and on what is not: “there are things that will still need to be done in the same way as before, and done very well, in order to succeed.”
