In international operations, you need to know the appropriate method of payment to complete a purchase/sale operation, as well as to adequately manage the taxation derived from it. These aspects are also relevant in the case of the purchase/sale of services and the right of use or acquisition of patents.

Meanwhile, corporate finance, derived from financial accounting, is a key aspect for any company and, in particular, for international companies, In this regard it is essential that new entrepreneurial projects design a financial plan that is adapted to reality if they are to be successful.

The course will teach you how to interpret a balance sheet, income statement and to analyse the company’s financial statements, and will teach your from a practical point of view about the sources of financing used by companies in their normal international trade operations. You will also learn to prepare the financial plan within a business plan, to understand the structure of the foreign exchange market and learn about business valuation methods.

You will also find out about the most common documents and means of payment used in foreign trade and the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, you will become familiar with letters of credit (function, types and effect on commercial risk) and you will identify the various sureties and guarantees used in international operations.

The course will teach you to understand the foreign exchange markets, their operation, risk and hedging options, as well as the different types of sureties and guarantees that exist in international trade, understanding the political and commercial risks inherent in international operations and their hedging through public and private insurance companies, and you will learn how to propose solutions to achieve optimal tax planning.

  •  Concept, functions and characteristics

  •  Hedging of financial risks: standard swap, increasing interest, with and without a subsidized barrier and CAP on interest rates.

3. International Payment Methods

  •  Collections and payments in international trade. Simple and documentary means of payment.
  •  Banker’s draft and personal cheque. Bank transfers.
  •  Collection (remittance). Letter of credit.
  •  Sureties and guarantees. Types of guarantees.
  •  Specialized financing. Governmentbacked loan. Factoring. International Forfaiting and Confirming.

4. International Taxation

  •  Double taxation agreements.
  •  Taxation according to residence of natural persons, permanent establishment and associated companies
  •  Taxation on specific income: dividends, royalty interest, workers on payroll, etc.
  •  Tax havens and the internet.
