On 16th November of this year IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra held the graduation ceremony for the 2008-09 promotion. The ceremony was held in the Auditorium in Barcelona and was chaired by UPF Rector, Josep Joan Moreso, who was joined at the Presidential table by Núria Basi, president of UPF\'s Social Council; Jaume Casals, vice-president and rector\'s commissioner for IDEC; Olga Valverde, Postgraduate and Doctorate vice-Rector, and Pau Verrié, general director of IDEC.
During the 2008-09 course over 1,300 participants have successfully completed some of the masters\' and postgraduate programmes taught at IDEC. Those who attended the event, many of whom were accompanied by relatives and friends, were offered the talk ?Social and environmental opportunities of future heads and leaders?, given by Doctor Manuel Escudero, the current executive director of the Global Compact Research Center at the United Nations.
The presence of Doctor Escudero reinforces and reaffirms IDEC\'s adherence to the initiatives of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), which establish processes for continuous improvement among business schools in order to develop a new generation of leaders capable of managing the challenges of 21st century society.
The graduation ceremony held in Barcelona was brought to a close by talks from Albert Figueiras, President of the IDEC Alumni Association and IDEC Vice-President Jaume Casals. Also in November IDEC organised its first graduation events in Colombia, Chile and Argentina for graduates from these countries who were unable to be present at the main event in Barcelona.
