Under the theme of “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Science Communication,” the Campus Gutenberg-CosmoCaixa Science Museum 2023 promises two days full of innovation, learning, and collaboration. The Campus is organized by the Center for Studies in Science, Communication, and Society of Universitat Pompeu Fabra (CCS-UPF), the UPF Barcelona School of Management (UPF-BSM), and the “la Caixa” Foundation.

The event’s program has been built with proposals from science communicators, selected by a specialized committee. Authors will share their expertise in various parallel sessions, including Shared Learnings, Workshops and a Performance.

Dr. Virginia Dignum, Professor of Responsible Artificial Intelligence at Umeå University, will deliver the opening talk titled “The State of the Art of AI and Future Perspectives.” The inaugural roundtable, “AI in Science Communication and Outreach,” will feature renowned experts such as Pilar Sánchez García (Universidad de Valladolid), Miquel Pellicer (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya), and Karla Islas (Universitat Pompeu Fabra-Hospital Sant Pau).

On the second day of the event, two roundtables will take place. The first one, titled “Hire a Science Communicator for Your Organization,” will feature the participation of Ángela Monasor (FECYT), Jordi Mas (FCRI), Rubén Permuy (ACCC), and Núria Saladié (CCS-UPF). The second roundtable, “Communication Training and Incentives for the Scientific Community” will present distinguished speakers such as José Manuel López Nicolás (Universidad de Murcia), Gema Revuelta (CCS-UPF), Óscar Menéndez (Explora Proyectos), and Cintia Refojo (FECYT).

Additionally, the Gutenberg Awards will be presented during the event. These awards recognize inspiring practices in science communication and innovation, as well as valuable lessons learned from unsuccessful experiences.

This annual event provides a unique opportunity to update knowledge, debate, and network. Approximately 300 professionals, including journalists and communicators specialized in science, health and the environment, are expected to participate in the event.

Campus Gutenberg also has the collaboration of the Catalan Association for Scientific Communication (ACCC), the Spanish Association of Scientific Communication (AEC2), and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – Ministry of Science and Innovation (FECYT).
