Glaxosmithkline Health Economics Chair


This chair was created in 2020 through collaboration between UPF Barcelona School of Management and GSK, a company that markets medications for human use. GSK is a company with a strong scientific interest in the projects, which have been created specially to be able to extract conclusions that can be subsequently applied to all interest groups.


  • Organising a Forum for experts to discuss topics related to the purchasing and funding of medications.
  • Based on the reflections extracted from the Forum, to make information known to interest groups.

Director of the Chair 

Jaume Puig-Junoy

Permanent lecturer at UPF Barcelona School of Management and accredited professor. He is currently an advisory member of the Advisory Committee for the Funding of Pharmaceutical Provision at the Ministry of Health. Since 2002, he has directed the Master in Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics and the International Master on Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics at UPF Barcelona School of Management.

Planned Activities in the Academic Year 2020/2021

  • Holding the First North Forum on Health Economics, which will conduct debate and discussion on this topic among experts from all around Spain. The Forum program will be held on two consecutive days, preferably in June 2021, and will contain:
  1. An inaugural speech
  2. Three roundtables
  • A closing speechThe working document for the First North Forum on Health Economics, which sets out all of the contents dealt with in the roundtables and discussions at the Forum.
